Hello, I'm Dahlia C.
Hello, thank you for checking out my listing. Here are some things I would like you to know about me! I am 22 and live in Burnaby with my cat, Skringle, and corn snake, Tiny. I adopted Skringle in 2022 when she was 15 and she is now 18. I rescued her from the SPCA after hearing about her being seized from an abusive animal hoarding situation, and having trouble find a forever home due to her age. She was quite a frightful and angry animal when I first brought her home, rightfully so, but after a lot of care and compassion she has transformed into the most trusting, sweet and social kitty around. She has grown to be very nonchalant, does not fret over strangers visiting, doesn't care for toys, is uninterested in the snake, and is completely unafraid of loud noises, including the vacuum, she won't even move for it! She mostly enjoys sleeping in my bed, sunbathing, racing around the house, and long hours of staring out the window. I love her very much. Chilli has been with me for about 10 years now after being introduced to reptile ownership by the West Coast Reptile Rescue And Rehabilitation at a booth at the Cloverdale Rodeo. Special thanks to my super cool and amazing mother for letting me get one! I know many people have a fear of snakes but she is very small and sweet and has never bitten anyone. She enjoys twirling up in your hair (especially if its curly) and falling asleep in the hood or pocket of your jacket, it's very cute. I have done my fair share of travelling, visiting 10 countries so far. On my first overseas trip I visited Romania, Hungary, Ireland and Britain, which I did solo in the fall of 2023. This past fall I travelled to Austria, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Italy, and Scotland for a 6 week trip with a friend. In the U.S.A. I have been to Texas, California, and a road trip through Washington State. I would really like to expand this list, most notably to include South-East Asia, South Korea, Chile, Panama, New Zealand, and as many European countries as possible. Some of my hobbies aside from travelling and hanging out with my pets include rock climbing, snowboarding, going to concerts, swimming in lakes, camping, and horses of course. When I'm at home I like to relax and unwind by watching movies or gaming with a nice cup of tea. I appreciate you taking the time to get to know a little bit about me and hope to get the chance to meet you and your horse/s in person!

About My Experience
I have been riding horses since the age of 10 and by the time I was 12 I was trusted by many owners to care for their horses. It is something I am very passionate about and enjoy both the riding side of things and the long days of hard, laborious work that comes along with it. I started working at Burnaby Horsemen's Association, a self-boarding stable, where I cared for many individually owned horses over the years, more often than not it was several at once. I then went to work at Capriole Academy where I was responsible for cleaning and maintaining a 20 horse stable. My duties included feeding hay and mixing grain, stall cleaning, washing water and feed buckets, tidying/sweeping the barn, paddock turn in/out, exercising, tacking up/down for lessons, grooming, cleaning tack, throwing/stacking hay, fencing checks and minor maintenance. I deeply enjoyed doing this work and knew it was what I wanted to make a career out of, as it brought me a sense of fulfilment and joy. Starting working with/around horses at such a young age instilled so many great qualities in me like the importance of working hard, accountability, responsibility, and self trust. It helped shape who I am and are skills I have carried with me throughout my life and I apply to everything I do. I learned a lot from working with different trainers/coaches in the lower mainland. I would assist with lessons, trailer loading, show preparation, green-broke riding/training, groundwork and desensitization. This taught me to closely follow direction, be consistent, and it also exponentially grew my confidence. In my many years of riding I gained a great deal of experience in English and Western riding. Originally starting out with weekly lessons and then moving up to leasing 5 days a week. My knowledge includes, but is not limited to, cross country and dressage, both of which I completed in, show jumping, trail riding, barrel racing, reining, and more. I have also learned additional skills like natural horsemanship, bareback riding and vaulting. My years of riding showed me that I am capable of anything I put my mind to, as long as I am willing to put in the hard work to achieve it. Now, at the age of 22, I am looking to turn my previous knowledge and skill into a full-time profession.
