About My Experience

I teach primarily English and some Western riding classes with children and adults of all ages. My responsibilities include cleaning tack, feeding horses, mucking stalls, creating lesson plans, and managing student and equine behavioral issues. I have had specialized Equine Science coursework at Colorado State University including Riding Instructor Training, Animal Anatomy & Physiology, Right Horse Initiative, and English Riding classes. I have done various internships with horse training where I have been able to ride and work with horses in all stages of handling ability. I have trained young horses with very few rides under saddle and have helped many horses develop groundwork skills. These skills include introducing the bit, lunging, haltering, picking up feet, grooming, riding preparation, and saddling. I have been horseback riding for 15 years and currently own a horse. This has allowed me to understand the needs of a horse and learn how to tailor lesson plans to a specific horse. I understand how to care for a horse and how to manage pain and injury within horses.
